The Maputo Protocol 20 for 20 Solidarity Awards
Join our YW4A consortium legal advocacy partner, Equality Now, through the Solidarity for African Women’s Rights’ (SOAWR) coalition, in celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Maputo Protocol on July 11, 2023.
The coalition will mark the milestone through the inaugural Maputo Protocol 20 for 20 Solidarity Awards.
The awards recognize those who have gone before us and those who continue to steer the numerous complexities that come with advocating for women and girl’s rights in Africa. The occasion also celebrates those organizations that have taken bold steps in advocating for the adoption, ratification, and domestication of the Maputo Protocol using various platforms of change.
Maputo at 20 events
Each year from 2003, Maputo Protocol events are held across the continent on July 11 – conferences, community gatherings, exhibitions, awards, festivals, fun runs, petitions, speaking events, online digital gatherings and more.
SOAWR invites women’s coalitions and networks, civil society organizations, educational institutions, government bodies, political parties, the media, and more, across Africa to celebrate significant progress that has been made at the regional and national levels towards advancing the human rights of women and ensuring gender equality on the continent.
