See details.\nEvent details \nVenue: Kigali Convention Center (KCC)\nRoom Name: MH 3.1\nDate: Tuesday, July 18, 2023\nTime: 17:30 PM – 19:00 PM\nSession Duration: 90 Minutes\nSession concept \nYoung women’s leadership actively aims to disrupt traditional patriarchal structures and helps in building a powerful, supportive network of young women leaders of present and future by decolonizing leadership.\nWorld YWCA has been unlocking young women agency through evidence, research, processes and outcomes that are owned by women and young women who live and work in communities around the world. By investing in the transformative leadership of young women, World YWCA aims to decolonize the ways young women have engaged in multiple power structures to a process involving self- realization and growth, working with others, and engaging in decision making. This is central to Goal 2035 of the YWCA movement of engaging 100 million young women to transform power structures for a world free from violence.\nThrough this side event, young #YWCAleaders from around the world will exchange multiple good practices that have existed in underrepresented communities for decades. These examples will emphasise on the need to challenge the interplay between language, power and privilege in a way that takes the consultation, creation and collaboration processes back to communities.\nThe session will have a guided intergenerational dialogue at the end with the audience to further inform the ways in which global organisations and movements can challenge the mandate of leadership, reframing who leads.\nSpeakers to be communicated in due course.\n \n\n\n
